Stockholm Synthpop Duo Covered in Snow Unveils Debut Album "People Always Leave"

"The Punisher" opens a deeply personal journey through life's inevitable changes

After seven years of crafting their signature sound, synthpop duo Covered in Snow (Tom Hedlund and Mikael Engström) will release their debut album "People Always Leave" on October 17, 2025, on CD and all major streaming platforms.

The 10-track album opens with "The Punisher," a synth-heavy, monotonic beast that sets a dark tone for what's to come. With its steady, relentless beat and haunting sonic palette, the track explores the cycle of violence through multiple perspectives – from youth caught up in crime to parents watching helplessly from the sidelines. A music video for the track will accompany the album release, with another video for "Nadine" to follow.

"Despite today's trend of singles-only releases, creating an album has been a lifelong dream," the duo shares. "This finally feels like the right time to tell a complete story."

"People Always Leave" doesn't promise easy listening. Instead, it offers honest reflections on separation, difficult conversations, and the moments that shape us. The album features seven previously released singles – including "My Great Mistake," which has already surpassed 100,000 streams on Spotify – alongside three new tracks, weaving together a narrative that's both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Since forming in 2017, Covered in Snow has evolved from creating music entirely "in the box" to embracing hardware synths like the Moog Matriarch, Eurorack modules, and Prophet Rev2. "It's not about how they sound," the duo explains, "but how they've changed our creative process." The modular synthesis, particularly for percussive elements, has become integral to their sonic palette, maintaining their synthpop core while pushing their sound toward more mainstream production values.

The album was mixed and mastered by Aryan Marzban at Soundtrade Studios, giving it a polished finish that complements the raw honesty of the songwriting. The result is an album that captures ordinary life "warts and all" – sophisticated in sound, unflinching in content.

"People Always Leave" will be available October 17, 2025, on CD and all streaming platforms via DistroKid.
